Government Dental College & Hospital, Vijayawada was established in the year 1992-93. It is the first established teaching dental institution in the present state of Andhra Pradesh and the only government dental college in the coastal Andhra region. Reckoned as one of the most acclaimed dental institutions in the state, GDC&H, Vijayawada is affiliated to Dr. Y.S.R. University of Health Sciences and is recognized by the Dental Council of India and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The institution is identified as one of the centers of excellence for oral health and oral cancer care by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in 2023. The college has strategic tie up with Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada for training of the students in medical disciplines. The vision of the institution is to facilitate the realization of the broader goal of universal optimum oral health care by preparing dental graduates who are skillful, knowledgeable, and empathetic.
